Modern Networks was founded in 2022 by Robert Langdale and Tony Lei, driven by the need for advanced wireless network engineering in public safety and essential services. After leading Sierra Wireless' professional services division, Robert teamed up with Tony, a network engineer with 20 years of experience. Together, they created Modern Networks to deliver Engineered Wireless Reliability for critical systems.
Minnesota Valley Cooperative Light and Power (MVCLP), a small utility provider, turned to Modern Networks after Sierra Wireless’ professional services team was disbanded. With security being critical, Modern Networks designed a secure IPsec VPN network using AirLink RV55 routers and simplified deployment through AirLink Connection Manager. They closed security gaps, streamlined installations, and enabled MVCLP to scale rapidly—growing router deployments over 5x—while continuing to support and maintain the expanding smart infrastructure.
The Town of Queen Creek, facing growing connectivity issues due to rapid population growth, partnered with Modern Networks to enhance wireless reliability for its fire, utility, and soon police departments. After testing and validating new routers, the town deployed them across its fleet, eliminating dead zones and doubling down on secure, high-performance communication. Modern Networks provided end-to-end support—from equipment to installation and custom deployment planning—earning the town’s trust through responsive, personalized service.
